UPDATED 30th August 2012

Well this is really about where we are from. When I say we I mean my direct family Bailey and Broome. This extends to Blanchard maternal link(my Mums Mum) and Gilbert/Pope wifey type link.

I use the Program Family Tree Maker 2011 for my records and that file can be saved as a .gedcom file the universal format. If you would like a copy of my gedcom file please ask and I will send it to you. Please share your info. The valued pics below of my Paternal Grandparents Henry Raymond and Lilian (Horder) and Paternal Great Grandmother Eleanor (ne Roberts) where contributed by cousin Margaret & John from Lawrence Weston. Recent thanks to Clare Westlake for stacks of facts from her tree. Thanks again Margaret. I find it uncanny to see both my brother Mac and father Raymond in both pictures, unmistakenly Roberts/Bailey Features. I have now taken the family back to 1700 on the Bailey side. All contributions welcome.

I am now working on publishing the family tree. As can be seen from the Adobe Pdf files below there is quite a lot of detail. I will be adding notes to this as well as pictures. The only problem I have is still waiting for folk to finally get around to doing what they may have said they would do a long time ago. Getting around to sending notes or pictures. Sometime in the future perhaps one of more of our ancestors might be interested in who 'we where' long after we have gone. This work might well help them. I know that dear Uncle Norman and  Kath  had cameras and those pics are on this site. But also Jack and Florrie where into the photography and Florrie or Frank had a movie camera. What happend to all those images and film. I can convert them to DVD if they exist. So please dig into drawers etc, if you need help in how to send or email please ask.

GEORGE WILLIAM BROOM

George William Broom

Born in Kentish Town London 1n 1884 the above dashing young man is the elusive and mysterious Grandfather
to all Broom, Broome (he added the 'E') Blanchard children. Father of Frances, Florence, Kathleen, Georgina,
Jack and Percy.
An early record shows at age 16 he was an assistant to a mechanical dentist. This I think was an early name for
todays false teeth maker not an orthodontist as that too would need high qualification.
No records exist to show any later qualifications as he claims to be
a Dentist and even Dental Surgon.
In 1911 census he is shown living in Reading with his 1st wife Alice Hill (28) the marrage took place in 1906.
No children are shown in this relationship.
Around 1913 he was with Annie Gertrude Noden (Gerty) they were never married. They had two children, yes
yes Frances and co had a half brother and sister.

Irene Florence Brown, born 11th August 1913 at 7 Oakley Place, Weymouth. Mother:
Gertrude Brown formerly Noden. Father: George W Brown, Mechanical Dentist.
(It is not clear why this one comes out as 'Brown' since it is obviously the
same family as the next one. It may be a registrar error.) Or, our George covering tracks!

Eric James Broom, born 16th January 1915 at 208a Hillingdon St, Newington
(London, quite near the Oval cricket ground)). Mother: Gertrude Broom formerly
Noden. Father: George William Broom, Dental Surgeon.

What is also known is that George Broom disappeared soon after Eric was born (1915),
never to be seen or heard of again (by this family). The story is that his intended wife found out and made him come
back to her. This would that be Winifred? our Grandmother.

The Following is as written by my new contact in UK Phil Wilson

The remaining three were split up.
Irene was brought up by grandparents in Gloucester. Eric was fostered and then, possibly, adopted.
My grandmother (Gerty)went on to marry my grandfather, John Mckee, in 1918
.

We Thank Phil for all the information, he found me through my published family tree at Ancestry.com and World Family Tree.
He has sent through Marrage Certificates for Alice and Winifred. The latter shows Marrage in 1st Quarter 1918, Frances was born
last Quarter 1918 so well on way at time of Marrage.

I have often wondered why my Aunts and Uncles said little about George.
I now think that perhaps Frances knew of our rougish cadd of a Grandfather. When I pressed her for information she often
replied, 'what do you want to know about 'him' for.

Most certainly the picture reflects the comment from all Aunts & Uncs that George looked like Percy and myself.
Cousin Norma commented that there is a resemblance to her mother Kath. I have now looked at the
picture on this site and yes I can see it.

I am yet to update the PDFs below and published information as I am in process of changing servers and hosting company, but twill not be long.
Remenber for future generations to download the Relivant family Pdfs and look out for updates. A lot of work has gone into them.
Your comments and any corrections as usual are welcome. Terry...
